We are beginning one of the the largest chapters today, chapter 6 - Medieval Europe. Students are working on the chapter 6-1 vocabulary: fjord, missionary, excommunicate, and concordat. For the left-side assignment they have two choices: illustrate the definition of the word and color or write a paragraph that correctly uses all the vocabulary words (minimum 8 sentences).
We are devoting class today to peer review. Students will read each other's essays and complete a peer review form. The purpose of this activity is to help one another strengthen their writing through the process of peer review. By identifying the various components of an essay in another essay, students will be able to better construct this same element in their own essay.
Students are beginning their final drafts of their Rome essay in class and their homework will be to finish the essay for peer review. The essay should be 5 paragraphs with each paragraph about 8 sentences. The essay can be hand written or typed. Please email me tonight if there are any quesions -

We are beginning our 3rd document based essay on the fall of Rome. This essay will be the chapter 1 assessment. Today we are going to be completing the hook exercise and reading and annotating the background essay. Tonight, student's must complete the background essay questions.
Students are illustrating Europe after the fall of Rome. This assignment will help them connect with the next chapter, which is Medieval Europe. Tonight they must finish recreating the map on pg. 326.
Students are completing an activity from the text today. They read pages 154-155 as a class and then must answer questions #1-3 on pg. 155.
